Not missing a beat, UFC Fight Night 32 emanates from the Goiania Arena in Brazil on Saturday, just three days after the promotions Fight for the Troops 3 event. The main event features a rematch from 2006 at PRIDE 32 and a number of Brazilian fighters slated to please the hometown crowd. Once again Jordan Cieciwa (@FitCityJordan) and I (@LynchOnSports) go head to head in our picks for this weekends event. Let us know which side youre on! Tweet either #TeamLynch or #TeamJC, on Twitter. Also feel free to leave your opinions in the comment section below. Vitor Belfort vs. Dan Henderson James Lynch TSN.ca (@LynchOnSports) A confusing, yet exciting rematch headlines the night as former UFC Light Heavyweight champion Belfort battles former PRIDE Middleweight champion Henderson.  I use the word "confusing" because Belfort is moving up to light heavyweight despite an impressive winning streak in UFCs middleweight division (since his loss to Anderson Silva at UFC 126). These arent lacklustre wins either; finishes against Anthony Johnson, Michael Bisping and most recently former Strikeforce champion Luke Rockhold. No doubt his usage of the very controversial TRT has played a major role in this decision, with his inability to earn a licence fight in various states in the U.S. In addition with Chris Weidman becoming the new UFC middleweight champion at UFC 162, the 185lb class certainly has a logjam. Either way, a rematch with Henderson is an intriguing matchup for the hardcore fans, especially in Brazil. For the Olympic wrestler Henderson, hes coming off two close decision losses to Lyoto Machida and Rashad Evans and is in need of a win should he still have title aspirations. At 43-years old, it does appear age has caught up with him, but hes still proven to be extremely durable and still possess dynamite in his right hand. With that said, even if the Team Quest captain is able to neutralize the 36-year old with his wrestling, he still wont have the power advantage in this fight like he usually does. In Hendersons decorated 39-fight career hes never been knocked out and only submitted twice. Saturday night well likely see him stopped via strikes for the first time in his career, as Belfort is too strong and too fast for the former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight champion. The Blackzillian member should find his range sometime in the third round and earn some revenge in front of the hometown crowd. Belfort via third round TKO. Jordan Cieciwa TSN Radio 1290 (@FitCityJordan) There is not much that Dan Henderson does better than another fighter in his division. I dont mean that with any disrespect, heck, the guy has been my boss for years. The thing is, he is usually the slower fighter. On paper, he is normally less talented a boxer. His jujitsu is almost non-existent. Dan can wrestle, and throw a bomb of a right hand. No new tricks for this old dog. Yet, he is still a threat. Its strictly because more than he loves of winning, Dan hates losing. So he goes through the fight with the single goal of landing a huge punch, or neutralizing his opponent against the cage with his Olympic level Greco Roman wrestling. This is going to be a very long night for fans, I expect this to be one of those fights that happens along the cage featuring lots of Dirty Boxing, and control. That doesnt bode well for Vitor Belfort. If Dan gets tired in the later rounds, it will end with a swarm from Vitor. If Dan is ready to go the whole fight, he should be able to control, the second he cant hold on to Vitor, it will end quick. Henderson via third round (H-Bomb) knockout Cezar Ferriera vs. Daniel Sarafian Lynch A pair of Brazilian middleweights looks to please the crowd on Saturday night, as 6-2 Ferreira battles 11-3 Sarafian. Both fighters competed on the debut season of TUF: Brazil and advanced to the tournament final, however Sarafian would bow out due to an injured elbow. The 31-year old Sarafian lost a surprising split decision to C.B. Dollaway at UFC on FOX 7, but would rebound earning his first UFC victory with an early submission of Eddie Mendez at UFC on FUEL 10. Ferreira meanwhile would take home the title of TUF: Brazil champion and earned a submission victory in just 47 seconds against Thiago Santos at UFC 163. Similar to when Michael Bisping fought Matt Hamill back at UFC 75, this matchup will finally give credence as to who the real Ultimate Fighter winner will be. Expect the younger Ferreira to emerge victories as his significant height and reach advantage will aid him in the win.  The Vitor Belfort protégé will look to impress his coach and will likely edge out a decision. Ferriera via unanimous decision JC Im excited to see this fight, both these fighters are starting their career and in my opinion arent ready for the higher level competition yet. They both broke into the UFC at the same time on TUF:Brazil. This is a good way for them to get a little more cage time and another camp at the level they should be at. This is going to be a sort of David and Goliath battle, with Ferriera having a substantial reach advantage, and coming out of Vitor Belforts camp he will know how to strike and use the advantage. That being said, Daniel Sarafian is no slouch, and his submission game is top notch. If there is a breakdown in the reach game, and it goes to the ground Sarafian gets the nod. Given the experience of Ferreira, I expect a break in defense. This will hit the mat, and it will go to Sarafian. Sarafian via third round submission Rafael Cavalcante vs. Igor Pokrajac Lynch Two fighters in desperate need of a victory clash in the UFCs light heavyweight division as "Fejao" and Pokrajac go to war. Since winning the Strikeforce light heavyweight title back in August of 2010, Cavalcante struggled, failing a drug test in his victory over Mike Kyle and losing his UFC debut to Thiago Silva brutally by way of first round knockout.  The Croatian kick boxer Pokrajac is in a similar situation, losing two of his last three fights including his most recent outing, a unanimous decision loss to Ryan Jimmo at UFC 161. Fejao has fought tougher opposition, including Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal, Dan Henderson and Thiago Silva. But the 34-year old "Duke" takes the edge in experience, having 36-fights on his record compared to just 16 for Cavalcante. With 15 knockout victories between the two of them, fans can expect a standup affair that is sure to deliver fireworks. Clearly this fight wont go the distance, so the question becomes who will get knocked out first? The 32-year old Blackhouse member should be the superior fighter in this fight and we should see the UFC jitters wear off in his second octagon appearance. Expect the BJJ blackbelt to find his range in the second round and earn his 12th career knockout victory. Cavalcante via second round knockout JC Coming over from Strikeforce I had a lot of hope for Rafael Cavalcante. He had a No Contest due to a performance enhancing drug in his system in his last bout in Strikeforce, and looked less than stellar when Thiago Silva knocked him out cold. Hes stepping in against Igor Pokrjac. As a product of Mirko Cro Cops team, Igor Pokrajac should be a devastating and aggressive kickboxer. That isnt what he has showed, and in fact, has put on one of the most boring matches in UFC history. His match up with Ryan Jimmo didnt live up to the hype. It did light a fire under Pokrajac, and I think that this fight will see him more aggressive. Good news for fight fans as Cavalcante will respond well to that. This will be an exciting stand up battle. The kind of fight most fans tune in for. Im expecting the iron chined Pokajac to get beat up for most of the fight, but win with a solid well placed shot. Pokrajac via third round KO Brandon Thatch vs. Paulo Thiago Lynch UFC veteran Thiago makes his 11th octagon appearance Saturday when he faces off with rising star Thatch. This is a classic matchup between two fighters headed in opposite directions, as Thiago has lost four of his last six fights and the Grudge Trainer Center product is on a current nine-fight winning streak. Part of the issue is that the 32-year old Brasilla native still works fulltime as a policeman in his native Brazil, so his focus cant be solely concentrated on fighting. Aside from his win over Josh Koscheck, anytime hes faced potential contenders in the division, hes faltered. His losses to Diego Sanchez, Martin Kampmann and Jon Fitch are evidence of this. Meanwhile his 28-year old foe turned some heads when he brutally knocked out Justin Edwards in his UFC debut back in August, making use of his exceptional height and reach advantage in the win. While Thiago poses a big step up in competition for the Denver native, he should have the power and speed advantage in this fight. Despite Thiago being undefeated in his native Brazil, Thatch should win this fight by knocking out the 20-fight veteran in the second round. Thatch via second round knockout. JC Paulo Thiago is one of the hardest working men in the UFC. He is one fight shy of a dozen and hes got a battle on his hands with Brandon Thatch. Thatch is riding an impressive nine fight winning streak. A win streak that has not had much in the way of top talent come his way. This fight is interesting, in that Thiago is 2-4 in his last six, but still has the compete level and skill of a top UFC veteran. Hell be a good proving ground for Thatch. This should go to the younger, faster fighter. I dont see Thiago pulling any upsets on this one. Thatch via second round knockout Ryan LaFlare vs. Santiago Ponzinibbio Lynch Arguably the most competitive matchup on the main card as Ponzinibbio makes his UFC debut against Ring of Combat champion LaFlare. The 27-year old, who appeared on the TUF: Brazil 2 reality show broke his hand in his semi-final victory over Leonardo Santos which forced him out of the tournament. Many pundits were picking the Team Tavares fighter to win the show, so a matchup against an undefeated American like LaFlare will certainly be an antiquate test. Speaking of which, the 30-year old Long Island native had a successful UFC debut defeating Ben Alloway back in April. Its a coin flip who wins this fight, I give LaFlare the slight edge because hes undefeated. LaFlare via unanimous decision JC This is a good event for Ryan LaFlare to prove that a championship in another fight organization is truly worth something. LaFlare is representing Ring of Combat. This fight will also give Santiago Ponzinibbio the chance to prove that he was as good as the opinion many experts had regarding his skills. The TUF: Brazil 2 Tavares team member was unable to compete due to injury and left many wondering exactly the level of his abilities. This one will go to the hometown, more experienced fighter. Ponzinibbio has been in the UFC spot light for a while, it will be less of a shock for him than for LaFlare. Ponzinibbio via unanimous decision Rony Jason vs. Jeremy Stephens Lynch A matchup initially slated for UFC Fight Night 29 is now the opening Saturday nights main card, as TUF Brazil 1 winner Jason faces Alliance MMA fighter Stephens. After winning the inaugural season of TUF Brazil, the 29-year old dispatched Sam Sicilla and Mike Wilkinson to improve his octagon record to a perfect 3-0. Stephens meanwhile got back on the winning track in his last outing, earning a decision over Estevan Payan at UFC 160 in his featherweight debut. Prior to that, "Lil Heathen" was coming off three straight losses to Yves Edwards, Donald Cerrone and Anthony Pettis. Not since defeating Rafael Dos Anjos way back at UFC 91 has the Iowa native earned a big victory in his career. Many pundits are picking the Team Nogueira product in this fight, and why wouldnt they? Jason is on an eight-fight win streak and generally Brazilians dont lose when fighting on their native soil. But Stephens experience should serve him well as I think he will use his wrestling and land the better shots over three rounds to earn a decision victory. Stephens via unanimous decision JC Rony Jason won the first TUF Brazil and has since moved to 3-0 in the Octagon. Across the Octagon is a very accomplished mixed martial artist in Jeremy Lil Heathen" Stephens. You can bet that this is going to be a fight where Stephens brings all his game to the table. The problem is, I dont know if that game is enough. This fight should go to the home town favorite. Rony Jason via unanimous decision Undercard Picks: Lynch: Sicilia, Akmedov, Tavares, Cruickshank, Tome JC: Sicilia, Akmedov, Tavares, Cruickshank, Ortiz Also be sure to tune into the "Weigh-In" on TSN Radio 1290 Winnipeg every Saturday as myself, Jordan and "Big Marv" Timog go toe to toe discussing the hottest topics in MMA. We know all about the great games of the past from the players, the broadcasters and the writers. Reds Wandy Peralta Jersey .com) - The Vancouver Canucks will try to win two straight games for the first time since mid-January on Monday night as they play host to the struggling New York Islanders. It appears as though the Holiday Break couldnt have come at a better time for the Montreal Canadiens this season. After a roller coaster 4-3 OT win in Nashville on Saturday night, the Habs look like a team that needs a few days of rest and relaxation away from the rink and the game. Montreal has the rare opportunity this particular season to have a stretch of seven days off in between games. In fact, they wont even return to the ice for practice until next Friday when they arrive in Tampa to prepare for a date with the Lightning. While the physical break is always enjoyed, sometimes its the mental break that can be the best thing for a player; a few days away from the arena and the game all together, spending time with family and friends to enjoy the season. Sometimes it can be overlooked how much a few days of family time can do for a player. A good example would be Daniel Briere, who has only been back to his home in Philly with his kids once since arriving in Montreal for training camp. A few days back around the Christmas tree with family can be a great recharge. Max Pacioretty will have his hands full with a new baby to welcome into the family over the break, and no doubt will enjoy a few days off during the whirlwind experience of becoming a father. Its also a case of some good ol home cooking, with several players heading home for the holidays. Ryan White said hes most looking forward to Moms cooking. The holidays also bring out memories of childhood and for players with young kids, a chance to pass on family traditions. Even though Travis Moen recalls his excitement of receiving his first shotgun on Christmas morning at 12 years old, hes not looking to pass on that tradition, saying "we live in the city now, so I cant see that," but jokes that some traditional food dishes are in order and of course the matching pajamas for the whole family. Its a mixed bag for the Habs this year, some who have family coming to Montreal while others will venture home.  There are even plans which include enjoying the holidays away in a different destination to escape the madness. One of those spots include Florida, where theyll remain and await the teams arrival next week. No matter which Habs player you talk to, and what the plans are, the common theme remains the same, its all about family. Hockey players are a tight group and the dressing room is much like a family, so its no surprise that remains the focus. So, while the players take a few days off, the fans should as well. Relax, take your mind off hockey for a few days.dddddddddddd Focus on the people around you. Spend some quality time with family and friends, and enjoy the festive season. Line combinations, statistics, and standings can take an aside for a few days to focus on whats really important. Its a long season in an Olympic year, and theres lots of hockey to still be played. Of course, theres still the World Juniors to watch on Boxing Day on TSN. And now, a few holiday notes... Id like to take a moment to thank all our team at TSN Radio 690 in Montreal. Its been a well-documented wild ride for the last two years, but things look brighter than ever for the future. There are a lot of people behind the scenes that make the station tick day to day and Id mention all the names, but fear of missing some. While you all are most likely familiar with the on-air talent, there is one name you dont hear of often that Id like to mention. He is our game night producer Marco Campagna. Hes the voice at the other end of the line every game for me, and also assembles our Saturday night montage openers. Top notch guy who never misses a game and it wouldnt be the same without him. Congratulations to our colleagues at RDS, who will remain as the Canadiens Regional rightsholder "en francais" for another 12 years. In addition to my friends Pierre Houde and Marc Denis, there are a lot of good people who work behind the scenes every game to bring a quality broadcast and its nice to see theyll still be together. A great piece of news before the holidays.  Atlantic Canada, stay tuned, more Habs hockey is coming to a radio near you in 2014! The TSN 690 Habs Radio Network is expanding very soon. "Back in 2011, when they announced that the game was coming here, we knew that it was going to be pretty important that we had a good year and hopefully could get into it, let alone win it, so I felt some pressure obviously within for sure," Taman said Monday, less than 24 hours after the Riders won the championship. RENTON, Wash. -- So much for concern that running back Marshawn Lynch would be absent from the Seattle Seahawks minicamp. Shortly after the first day of minicamp began for the Super Bowl champions on Tuesday, Lynch strolled from the Seahawks locker room with his No. 24 jersey pulled over a hooded sweatshirt. Lynch was just a spectator, spending most of his day chomping on sunflower seeds and chatting with teammates. But he was in attendance, avoiding the potential of being fined nearly $70,000 for skipping the mandatory team workouts. "We expected him to be here and he was here," Seattle coach Pete Carroll said. Reports surfaced last week that Lynch might consider not attending the practices in hopes of getting a higher salary for the 2014 season. Lynch signed a four-year contract before the 2012 season. He is scheduled to make $5 million in base salary this season plus per-game roster bonuses. Carroll declined to discuss any conversations with Lynch about his contract. "There is nothing in our conversations about that, the business side of it that well talk about," Carroll said. "There is no reason to. We havent talked about other guys in that regard so were not doing that now." Lynch was not available to speak as he sat out the practice with a sore ankle, according to Carroll. Lynch had not been present for Seattles organized team activities and because of a sore ankle, Carroll said it would be unlikely his running back would be on the field during minicamp. Seattles plan is to make sure Lynch is healthy for the season opener against Green Bay on Sept. 4, which will be a very light load of carries during training camp and the preseason. Even though the Seahawks staff at various times during the off-season has expressed getting more carries for reserves Robert Turbin and Christine Michael, Carroll reiterated that Seattles run game begins with Lynch. Lynch has rushed for at least 1,200 yards in each of the past three regular seasons. Hes gotten at least 285 carriies in each of those three seasons and last season during Seattles title run finished the year with 366 carries combined between the regular season and playoffs.dddddddddddd. That was the fourth-most combined carries for any running back since 2009. "We have rested him a lot in the off-season. He takes a big pounding during the year. It takes him a long time to get his body back to where he doesnt feel the rigours of the season thats past," Carroll said. "In this case its unique but he is a unique player and he has a unique role on our football team, so we have to do what we have to do to take care of him." Lynch could have faced significant fines if he decided not to attend minicamp, but he has shown previously he does not enjoy losing money through fines. Last season, Lynch begrudgingly began speaking to the media during the playoffs in an effort to avoid hefty fines from the league. That included memorable sessions during Super Bowl week where he answered questions for about 20 combined minutes during three days of league-mandated media availability. "Marshawn has really been the guy for us and we love everything about the way he plays and what he brings to this team. Hes never taken a step backward at any time for us in all the years hes been here," Carroll said. "From the day we went after him and got him we had sights on him becoming the player that he has become and he has never disappointed us. Hopefully hell be really healthy and ready to go at the season start and if we have accomplished that with this off-season that will be very successful for him and for our team." NOTES: LB Bruce Irvin, who had hip surgery in early June, was the only player not in attendance. ...   Saskatchewans two playoff wins before registering
Posted by: zxlbxj1 - 13.11.2018, 07:35 - Forum: Idle Universe - No Replies

The Mike Kelly era, as short-lived as it was, kicked off a troubling five-year period for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Save for the season after their Swaggerville run to the Grey Cup – one that ultimately didnt pan out – Bombers fans have been subjected to the same hope-filled off-season rhetoric; what makes this the year they turn it around when the same pre-season confidence a year ago led to just more troubling results? And in a lot of ways this year could be similar. New general manager Kyle Walters was part of the old guard and new starting quarterback Drew Willy, he of just 147 career CFL passing attempts, cannot be considered the for-sure answer at quarterback. That isnt to say these things wont turn around this season, but old GM Joe Macks hiring got a lot of people excited in 2010, returning to the city where he won a Grey Cup before gaining extensive experience in NFL front offices; and Stefan LeFors, Buck Pierce, and Alex Brink all had failed tenures as quarterback of the future. But there is some tangible evidence the team could be breaking out of their five-year fog. Mike OShea leads the list of smart moves the team made in the off-season to quietly start a foundation that could lead to success. Its been a while since the Bombers landed a coveted candidate at head coach. OShea has been ticketed as someone to watch for years now after following up a very impressive playing career with a promising stint as special teams coordinator in Toronto. The Canadian football lifer oozes leadership and has the opportunity to set the standard for the Bombers roster as he helped to do with some strong Argonauts rosters the past couple years. Keeping Marcel Bellefeuille around as OSheas offensive coordinator gives the team a play caller with both head coaching and successful coordinator experience on his resume. And adding Danny McManus, by all accounts an up-and-comer in the player evaluation world, should be of benefit to Walters in the front office. And aside from losing out on the Zach Collaros sweepstakes – Willy was a decent consolation prize – the team added some important free agents to help in the culture change Winnipeg is undertaking. Nick Moore, who some had tabbed for the NFL after his breakout season, should be a fine replacement for Terrence Edwards as the go-to option in the receiving corps. And Korey Banks, who was added after a contract squabble with the BC Lions, still has a lot of game left to go along with his leadership and winning mentality. Maybe this year wont be any different than ones previous, theres really no way of knowing if the new regime fits together to make a winner or not. And there likely wont be an easy team to pick off in the East Division. But aside from bringing with them a fresh air and new way of thinking, OShea and company have a winning attitude that could finally reverse the fortunes in Winnipeg. If youre apt to believe a change of culture is a noticeable step on the way to respectability, the Bombers could finally be making the first moves towards contending this season. Notes West Division The Blue Bombers are returning to where many CFL fans feel they belong, the West Division. With the Ottawa Redblacks joining the league and East Division, Winnipeg will jump back to the West, alongside the Lions, Stampeders, and Eskimos, and of course their longtime rivals in Saskatchewan. Terrence Edwards Retires Blue Bombers fans havent had a lot to cheer about the past couple years but one constant was Terrence Edwards tremendous play at receiver. Edwards spent seven of his nine CFL seasons in Winnipeg, five of which he surpassed 1,000 yards receiving, scoring a combined 46 touchdowns. Expansion Draft The Redblacks used the first two rounds of the expansion draft to nab from Winnipeg a promising young receiver in Wallace Miles, and a strong special teams player in FB James Green. The Bombers didnt suffer a loss in the third round however as the Redblacks selected impending free agent Rory Kohlert, a non-import receiver. Ottawa never signed Kohlert to a contract extension and he returned to Winnipeg just months later as a free agent. Free Agency Winnipeg should be relatively pleased with their off-season haul. They locked up some solid players on their own roster and landed a star receiver to replace Edwards in former BC Lion Nick Moore, and a quarterback they hope can lead the team now and in the future in former Saskatchewan Roughrider Drew Willy. CFL Draft With the second overall pick the Blue Bombers landed a solid offensive line prospect in Matthias Goossen, who they hope will be a mainstay for years to come. Winnipeg also selected McGill LB Jesse Briggs in the second round, Simon Fraser DB Derek Jones in the fourth round, Mount Allison DL Quinn Everett in the sixth round, and McMaster LB Aram Eisho in the seventh round. Lamar Jackson Jersey . Mauer struck out to end the inning, with a runner on third base in the seventh on Wednesday and the Twins trailing 1-0. Everybody does this, of course, in a sport with a 30 per cent success rate at the plate long proven to be a benchmark of excellence. Bradley Bozeman Jersey . MORITZ, Switzerland -- Latvia won a four-man World Cup bobsled race Sunday, while the U. http://www.cheapravensjerseysonline.com/...sey-online. Bobrovsky posted a 2-0-1 record with a 1.58 goals-against average and .950 save percentage to help the Blue Jackets (35-26-6) gain five of a possible six points last week. He capped the week by making 32 saves and stopping 2-of-4 shootout attempts in a 2-1 win over the Minnesota Wild on Saturday. Matt Skura Jersey . Adam Lind provided the power and rookie starter Marcus Stroman had the best start of his young career as the Blue Jays dumped the Yankees 8-3 at Rogers Centre. Stroman, making his fifth start for Toronto, allowed one earned run and three hits over a career-high eight innings. Maxx Williams Jersey . The club says Fridays surgery was successful. Holiday, a former Eastern Conference All-Star acquired from Philadelphia last summer, has not played because of the shin injury since Jan.REGINA -- Taj Smith is staying put. The lanky receiver re-signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Thursday. Smith was scheduled to become a free agent at noon ET on Feb. 15. Smith, 30, is entering his third season with Saskatchewan. The six-foot-one, 198-pound receiver had a team-high 78 catches for 1,007 yards and seven TDs last year. "Taj is a pretty big part of what we do, obviously," general manager Brendan Taman told reporters. "He was very committed to being here and Jeremy (assistant GM Jeremy ODay) did a lot of great work behind the scenes to get it done. "One guy off the list and an important guy is a good thing." Smith 11 catches for 186 yards in Saskatchewans two playoff wins before registering one reception for five yards in the Riders 45-23 Grey Cup win over Hamilton. Smith has recorded 125 career catches for 1,697 yards and nine touchdowns in 31 regular-season games with Saskatchewan. Taman still faces a busy off-season as Saskatchewan still has 16 potential free agents, including slotback Weston Dressler, running back Kory Sheets, kicker Chris Milo and punter Ricky Schmitt, who Taman said worked out for the NFLs Buffalo Bills on Thursday. Taman is hopeful he might re-sign one or two before the free-agent deadline. "Were pretty aggressive to get something done before the 15th," Taman said. "But realistically one or two and thats probably what its going to be." Last month, the Riders signed rookie free-agent kicker Brett Cameron, the son of Hall of Fame punter Bob Cameron who attended Winnipegs training camp last summer. The younger Cameron spent four seasons at the University of Northh Dakota (2009-12) before signing with the Bombers.dddddddddddd "He (Cameron) is a legit contender to come in and compete but Ricky will dictate a lot of that," Taman said. "Ricky would like to come back and were working towards that and hopefully we can get that done before (Feb. 15) but well see. "Weve had on-and-off communication with (Milos) agent, moreso from our end. Hes very driven to stay here if he can but business is business. Im sure hell have an offer to mull over once the 15th hits so well see where it goes." Sheets and Dressler were key contributors to Saskatchewans Grey Cup push in 2013 but both have garnered NFL interest since the end of the season. If they sign south of the border, the expectation is neither would be back with the Riders until September, at the earliest. Sheets finished second in CFL rushing with 1,598 yards. He capped his season by running for a record 197 yards in leading the Riders to just their fourth league championship. The five-foot-seven, 179-pound Dressler led the Riders with nine TD catches and was second in receptions (70) and yards (1,011). He registered his fourth straight 1,000-yard campaign and fifth in six seasons with Saskatchewan. "Everybody here is a big Weston Dressler fan and I think he deserves a chance if he can get one," Taman said. "I have no idea how its going to play out but hes always welcome here no matter if its January, September, October, November. "If thats what he wants to do I really hope he can achieve that goal and well adjust accordingly. We cant really control any of that so well sit back and see what happens." CAIRO, Egypt -- The Confederation of African Football has moved the Super Cup game between Egypts Al Ahly and Tunisias Sfaxien to a smaller stadium in Cairo. CAF also brought the match between the winners of the African Champions League and Confederation Cup forward from Feb. 22 to Feb. 20. The Confederation initially said the match would be at the 75,000-seat Cairo International Stadium, raising concerns as games in front of large crowds in Egypt have been rare since more than 70 people, mostly Al Ahly fans, were killed at a stadium riot in 2012. CAF says the switch to a 30,000-capacity military venue which hosted the Egypt-Ghana World Cup playoff last year was for "organizational reasons." Fans clashed with police before Ahlys victory in Novembers Champions League final at another Cairo stadium. A.J. Green Jersey . He even addressed his group of relievers Sunday morning. Dustin McGowan made those worries a nonfactor, at least for a day. McGowan pitched three-hit ball for seven innings, Colby Rasmus hit a grand slam and Melky Cabrera added a two-run homer as the Blue Jays beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-2. Dre Kirkpatrick Jersey .com) - The Calgary Flames are spoilers once again. http://www.cheapbengalsjerseyssale.com/?...sale.James scored 29 points, including 16 in the first quarter, and the Cleveland Cavaliers broke a four-game losing streak with a 106-74 win over the Orlando Magic on Monday night. Tony McRae Jersey . Espanyol midfielder Sanchez intercepted Bilbao goalkeeper Gorka Iraizozs clearance and, having spotted a gap, risked using his less-favoured left foot to fire a beautifully precise long-range shot that bounced in from high up the near post in the 24th minute. Tra Carson Jersey . There is no argument that the line of Pacioretty, David Desharnais and Thomas Vanek was one of the hottest in the NHL leading into the post-season, and they did combine for three goals and seven points, but it was the depth of all four lines that helped propel Montreal.VANCOUVER -- Vancouver Whitecaps head coach Carl Robinson has seen his fair share of strange injuries over the years, and Nigel Reo-Cokers bizarre mishap is just another one to add to the list. Reo-Coker is expected to miss the Major League Soccer clubs game this weekend against the Houston Dynamo with a concussion after he tripped over a bike rack and banged his head in Vancouver on Sunday. The 29-year-old midfielder missed Tuesdays training session and was absent again on Wednesday, with Robinson revealing that Reo-Coker will likely sit out against the Dynamo. "Hes a little bit bruised and cut," said Robinson. "Hes not here with us today but we hope he makes a speedy recovery and hopefully (is) back very soon." A former Welsh international during his playing days, Robinson said Reo-Cokers tumble ranks among some of the more odd injuries hes come across. "Ive seen a few and heard a few in my time, picking up a remote control and pulling your hamstring and things like that. Its one of them that fits into that category," said Robinson. "Its quite a serious injury for him but its one that makes you chuckle when you hear about it and the story. Its a strange one." The injury occurred after Reo-Coker had returned with his teammates to Vancouver following the Whitecaps 0-0 road ddraw against the New England Revolution on Saturday afternoon.dddddddddddd "He just fell and tripped. I dont think he was looking where he was going, which is never a good sign for a midfield player," Robinson deadpanned, before adding: "Obviously youve got to be very careful with head injuries these days. "Hes done the concussion test and there was a slight issue so it was a little bit worrisome but hes fine. I spoke to him for half an hour today in the office. Its normal Nige back." Reo-Coker has started all three games for Vancouver (1-0-2) so far this season, but was subbed off after 70 minutes on Saturday in favour of Gershon Koffie, who seems like the most obvious candidate to take the Englishmans place in the lineup against Houston (2-0-0) this Saturday. A box-to-box central midfielder, Reo-Coker joined the Whitecaps in February 2013 after stops with Wimbledon, Aston Villa, Bolton Wanderers and West Ham United in his home country. He started 31 MLS games for Vancouver last season, collecting one goal and four assists. Reo-Coker has one assist in 220 minutes of action so far in 2014. "Youre always due for one or two strange injuries a season," said Whitecaps captain Jay DeMerit. "You feel for Nigel. Hell have to answer you to how it all happened."   winning streak to six games

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The New York Rangers were running out of time to make anything out of the longest homestand in team history. The first seven games of the nine-game Madison Square Garden stay produced one win and only four of a possible 14 points for the Rangers, who seemingly lost their way in front of goalie Henrik Lundqvist. Enter backup Cam Talbot, who got the rare start and kept all but one puck out. Carl Hagelin and Mats Zuccarello scored second-period goals, and Talbot made 24 saves in the Rangers 4-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Sunday night. Talbot allowed the first goal but was steady the rest of the way in relief of the struggling Lundqvist, who started the previous eight games and allowed at least three goals in the last seven outings. "We owed the fans this one," Talbot said. "Theyve been supporting us quite a bit lately, and we havent really produced for them." Benoit Pouliot tied it in the first period, Chris Kreider added a goal in the third, and Derick Brassard had two assists. Kreider made it 4-1 with 7:14 remaining. "Probably our best game all year when it comes to playing a full 60 minutes and everyone contributing," Hagelin said. "We definitely needed one of these just to feel good about ourselves." New York improved to 2-4-2 on the homestand that concludes Monday against Toronto. "There is not a whole lot of time to think about it," Talbot said. "Just go out there and try to carry this game into tomorrow." Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said he decided on his starting goalie for Monday, but didnt reveal his choice. "Hes a young kid thats learning the NHL game," Vigneault said of the 26-year-old rookie Talbot. "He came in here and did what we expect of our goalies and gave us a chance to win." Jason Pominville scored for Minnesota, and Niklas Backstrom stopped 32 shots. He made his second straight start in place of Josh Harding, who is out while adjustments are made to medication for multiple sclerosis. Minnesota, which has lost four of six, has netted only 13 goals in eight games. "When you put yourself in a hole, its hard to get out of it when goals have been tough to come by and overall youre just not feeling good about the way weve been playing," forward Zach Parise said. "Its just been a frustrating stretch for us. "Weve got to find a way to score. Thats the bottom line. Were not scoring. Were not giving ourselves a chance." New York took control during a dominant second period in which the Rangers outscored the Wild 2-0 and outshot them 17-5 to take a 3-1 lead and a 29-16 edge in shots. "Our compete level, especially in the second period, was probably our best four-line, six-defence pairing in a long time," Vigneault said. Hagelin gave the Rangers the lead when he took a pass from Derek Dorsett in the right circle and snapped a drive that beat Backstrom at 11:26 for his third goal in four games. The Rangers made it 3-1 with 1:25 left in the second when Brassard skated the length of the ice, curled behind the net, and flung a backhanded pass into the slot to the charging Zuccarello. New York fell behind 4:08 in on Pominvilles team-leading 17th goal. Mikael Granlund, who returned after a long absence, won a faceoff in the New York zone. The puck came to Pominville, who moved it back to Ryan Suter at the left point and then cut to the front. Suter sent him a quick pass for a deflection past Talbot. It marked the first time in 11 road games that Minnesota scored first. "We felt pretty good about the way we played in the first period," Parise said. "We got the first goal and that was it." New York cashed in on its second power play when Pouliot finished a crisp passing sequence started by Brad Richards. Brassard moved the puck to Ryan McDonagh, who sent a floating drive toward the net that Pouliot deflected in with 3:52 left. Pouliot, who has five goals, has scored in three of his last six games and has a point in four straight and five of six. NOTES: The Rangers improved to 3-16-1 after allowing the first goal. The Wild fell to 14-2-2 after scoring first. ... Suter has a six-game assist streak, his longest since another six-game run in December 2011 with Nashville. ... The 21-year-old Granlund had missed 11 games with a head injury. He was hurt on his first shift against Phoenix on Nov. 27. ... Wild defencemen Jared Spurgeon and Clayton Stoner played in their 200th NHL game. ... Zuccarello has a point in 10 of 15 games. Luke Stocker Jersey . With the CFL and its players set to have a ratification vote on a new labour deal on Thursday, one CFLer doesnt seem to be on board. Marco Iannuzzi, a wide receiver for the B.C. Lions, took to Twitter to vent his frustrations with the latest negotiations. Iannuzzi said, through a series of Tweets, that after speaking to confidants within the MLB Players Association and NFL Players Association, he feels the players "have been taken advantage of" during negotiations. "Now, after these #CollectiveBullyingNegotiations we have no choice but to strike for what is #fair," said Iannuzzi. "My apologies to all those who will be affected; stadium staffs, other businesses reliant on gameday revenue & of course to you fans." Sources say the players will vote electronically on Thursday while the CFLs board of governors will vote on the deal on Friday. The new deal includes a $5 million salary cap, well below the $6.24 million the CFLPA was asking for. Shane Smith Jersey . I kept my eyes focused up on the camera during each approach. I just tried to stay focused on my form, as I didnt know what the ball reaction was. I was quite emotional at the end. Chad Wheeler Jersey .James scored 29 points, including 16 in the first quarter, and the Cleveland Cavaliers broke a four-game losing streak with a 106-74 win over the Orlando Magic on Monday night. It had been the greatest World Cup most could ever remember. A World Cup full of wonderful moments and wonderful matches. Then it became the World Cup that Luis Suarez bit someone in. Hyperbole has been destroyed in Brazil. World Cups of recent memory have tried to convince us that they have been entertaining but, in general, they were dull. This time it seemed anyone could say anything about this World Cup and no one would say wait, what?. And then Suarez bit Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini. Wait, what? It came just as some might have been taking a snooze. For the first time in Brazil two games, being played out at the same time, gave us very little to enjoy. England, whose multitude of writers on social media reminded us they were still relevant, finally put their fans out of their misery with a lifeless scoreless draw against sudden group powerhouses, Costa Rica in Belo Horizonte. In Natal, meanwhile, Uruguays plan was going to script. Blessed with two legitimate world class strikers, and very little else, Oscar Tabarez played it cautiously, waited for a moment or two to go his way and thats how they qualified. Anyone willing to criticize such a tactic should remember just how they won Copa America 2011. And how they have scored in Brazil. A penalty by Edinson Cavani, a header made by Cavani and scored by Suarez, a bullet of a shot finished by Suarez and started by the goalkeeper and now a header from a set play. Tuesdays hero, Diego Godin, is the only one anywhere close to the talent of the front pair. Italy, meanwhile, didnt get The Tabarez Memo. Needing a draw to advance they played far too close to the line of uncertainty. A line that could move with a red card, a set play goal of a poor display by their main striker. Lightning struck three times for the Italians. Claudio Marchisios red card was debatable but not enough to chastise the referee. The marking on the goal wasnt good enough and then there was Mario Balotelli. The term world class is thrown around far too often when describing players. It is the elite of the elite, a section reserved for the greatest players in the game today. There is nothing left after that. On Tuesday, Balotelli made a mockery of those quick to place him in that category. On the biggest stage of all, when his country needed him he was an absolute liability, forcing his coach to remove him at half-time. The problem for Balotelli is that he has run out of his immaturity excuse. The great footballerrs are gifted, of course, but also have a level of football intelligence about them, that allows games to come to them rather than trying to do it themselves.dddddddddddd Balotelli has misfired regularly at the top table of club football, the Champions League, and has now done the same at the top table of the international game as well. Italy came to Brazil to win the World Cup and needed their striker at the top of his game, physically and mentally. He played one good half out of five and thats not good enough. Sure, he is not the only one to blame for their early exit. Cesare Prandelli couldnt up the tempo and had to resign afterwards. Andrea Pirlo, one of the greatest footballers of this era, was a shadow of his former self, joining the likes of Iker Casillas, Xavi, Diego Forlan and Steven Gerrard who have all been exposed by age at this level. And then there is FIFA who are also to blame for this, of course. Italy became another European team humbled in the intense heat of Brazil. Asking these teams to play afternoon games, rather than evening games, has made a significant impact on the results. Not that they care about that. Their attention now turns to the Suarez investigation and they need to get it right. He should and will be suspended with a lengthy ban. What happens next is even more important. After his 10-game ban came down last April for biting Branislav Ivanovic, the Uruguyan showed a tremendous amount of remorse. How can he not have? After all, this is clearly not a man who believes that biting an opponent is the right thing to do. However, it is also clearly a man who is unstable on the field and needs help. Throwing the book at him, in terms of a suspension, will satisfy all of those who care about the sport. That then leaves a man, a man who will clearly be broken by this. It is easy to feel no sympathy for him but if you think he was crushed by the Liverpool suspension wait for this one to come down. Uruguay is a very proud footballing country and that is shown in the way they play the game. Suarez will be distraught that he has let his country down and, with it, given a poor reflection on them internationally. As he sits out the rest of this World Cup and, subsequently, likely the 2015 Copa America he will have a lot of time on his hands to get help and become a better man. Many hours were put in to get him to reach the level of world class as a footballer and now he must do the same to achieve that as a man. Franklin Morales followed a good start by Jorge De La Rosa with one of his own, helping the Rockies beat the San Diego Padres 3-1 Thursday. Colorado used Wilin Rosarios tiebreaking groundout in a three-run seventh to overcome Ian Kennedy, who pitched a one-hit shutout through the sixth. Morales (1-1) allowed one run and four hits in six innings with five strikeouts and a walk. Morales made his second career start against the Padres — and first since allowing one hit in six shutout innings at San Diego on Sept. 21, 2007. "That was crucial for him to get through the sixth," Colorado manager Walt Weiss said. "He stepped up. Its tough to go back and forth between the pen and starting." Injuries to Tyler Chatwood and Brett Anderson, have forced the Rockies to start Morales and De La Rosa, who both were sent to the bullpen earlier after ineffective starts. De La Rosa was the loser in Wednesday nights 4-2 defeat, but threw well; he allowed three runs — two earned — and seven hits in six innings. "I have a job to do," Morales said. "I dont worry about where I pitch. I just want to do whatever I can to help my team win." Morales allowed a solo homer to Xavier Nady leading off the fourth, a drive off the facing of the second deck in left field. That stood until the seventh. Corey Dickerson reached on a one-out double, Troy Tulowitzki walked and Justin Morneau lined a ball to right field. Chris Denorfia broke in, then retreated as the ball went his head for an RBI double. "Morneau hit that ball pretty hard and they got a couple guys on," Kennedy said. "I was trying to get a double play in that situation." Rosario grounded out to shortstop as Tulowitzki scored for a 2-1 lead, and Nolan Arenado followed wwith a run-scoring single.dddddddddddd "Kennedy was tough, pounding the ball down, hitting the corners," Morneau said. "But when he made mistakes, we took advantage, and we had some good at-bats in the seventh." LaTroy Hawkins pitched the ninth to remain perfect in four save chances, finishing just the fourth win for the Rockies in 11 road games this season. Kennedy retired his first 12 batters before walking Tulowitzki leading off the fifth. He didnt allow a hit until Arenados leadoff double in the sixth. "Its tough. I threw well for the first six innings," Kennedy said. "I felt like I was executing my pitches. I was getting ahead of guys and when I didnt start off with strike one I felt like I was getting back to even in the count and it was just nice to execute like that." NOTES: Nadys homer was his third of the season and San Diegos eighth, the lowest total in the NL. ... San Diegos Everth Cabrera extended his hitting streak to nine games with a second-inning double. ... Padres 3B Chase Headley was held out of the starting lineup for a second consecutive game with a strained right biceps. Headley had a pinch-single in the eighth. ... Rockies RF Michael Cuddyer left in the seventh with a right hamstring cramp. ... Longtime Rockies 1B Todd Helton is scheduled to be inducted into the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame Thursday night at Sports Authority Field in Denver. ... Padres 1B Yonder Alonso entered in the ninth inning and played third base for the third time in his big league career. ... Anderson had surgery on Thursday to have pins inserted into his fractured left index finger. The pins are expected to remain for six weeks. ... The Rockies open a three-game set at home Friday night against Philadelphia, which sends RHP Jonathan Pettibone (0-0) against RHP Tyler Chatwood (0-0). ... Michael van Gerwen could end the week level on 20 points at the summit of Premier League Darts alongside Phil Taylor. Sky Live: PL Darts Everything you need to know before Bournemouth Second-placed Van Gerwen currently has 16 but two matches on Thursday, live on Sky Sports 2 HD at 7pm, means he could catch Taylor if The Power is turned off.But will he? Wayne Mardle puts his thinking cap on... Michael van Gerwen v Peter WrightLike most weeks I dont think Van Gerwen will lose - but hes having trouble winning! Hes won one of his last five. Theres no structure to whats happening, hes playing well but not winning. Remember when MVG hit a nine-darter in front of Freddie Flintoff? One of the players who has done that for the duration of the Premier League is Wright - he plays well but somehow gets beaten or he draws. I feel for him, because hes played well. But if Wright continues to change his darts with the regularity that he has done, hell find himself out of form and not know where to turn.Prediction: Lets not beat around the bush, Van Gerwen is a better player. I do think he will win. (Sky Bet Odds: MVG 1/3 to win)Raymond van Barneveld v Adrian LewisBarney doesnt always play well against Lewis. This is horses for courses, I just think Lewis to play Van Barneveld. Last weeks nine-darter from Adrian Lewis I can see Barney playing well but, now he cant qualify, he lacks that edge. Last week he played a drab affair in a way that told me hes had enough of the Premier League this season.Prediction: Adrian beats Barney quite cosily, 7-3 or 7-4. (Sky Bet Odds: Lewis 5/1 to win 7-3)Gary Anderson v James WadeYou cant afford to lose anyone below you in the league. They can go above you and drag you down. If you start losing to those below you regularly, you get dragged into the pack. Reaction from Micahel van Gerwen and Gary Anderson after their thrilling draw Andersons performance against Van Gerwen last week was a massive plus, it was nearly faultless. He hit a 119 finish under pressure, and averaged 108 to draw with Van GerwenPrediction: I like the way James is playing but I think Gary wins. James lacks the consistent ability to go 140, 140, game shot. (Sky Bet Odds: Anderson 4/7 to win)Phil Taylor v Robert ThorntonI love Robert to bits, I love that he tries 100 percent. He doesnt just play for the prize money - lets be honest, hell finish seventh or eighth but he annihilated Wright last week. Watch Phil Taylors winning leg against Barney But Taylor is showing a consistently brilliant form. He reads the game, and his opponent. He pulls out the right shot, at the right time.Prediction: Phil has got too much for Thornton - hell win 7-3. (Sky Bet Odds: Taylor 9/2 to win 7-3)Michael van Gerwen v Adrian LewisAfter last weeks nine-darter, can Adrian play that well again? Portland snatched Game 1, 122-120, in overtime on Sunday night in Houston thanks to amazing heroics from its two All-Stars. Damian Lillard finished with 31 points, nine rebounds and five assists and LaMarcus Aldridge turned in a monster performance with 46 points and 18 rebounds before fouling out in the extra session. Aldridges 46 points set a Blazers franchise record for points in a postseason game. Down nine with less than five minutes to go in regulation, the Blazers employed the "hack-a-Howard" strategy. Dwight Howard, a 54.7-percent foul shooter, made his first two attempts, but missed the next four as the Blazers rallied with the next 11 points to tie the game on Aldridges two from the line with 2:46 left. James Harden got a tough jumper to fall just inside the final minute of regulation for a 102-99 lead and Aldridge cut it to one with a pair of free throws 13 seconds later. Jeremy Lin missed a runner on the other end, but Howard grabbed the rebound and was fouled. This time, Howard came through for his team and knocked down both free throws for a 104-101 edge. Lillard, however, buried a game-tying trey. On the inbounds pass, Lillard ran his defender Patrick Beverley into a brutal screen which sent him to the deck. Lillard then got Terrance Jones to bite on a pump fake before knocking down the triple. After Harden made it 106-104 with seven seconds left, Wesley Matthews attempted a three from the time out, but it drew iron. Lillard was there for the rebound, but his tip-in didnt fall. AAldridge, though, cleaned up that miss and tied the game again with 2.dddddddddddd9 seconds left. Harden couldnt get a tough look from the corner to go as the horn sounded, sending the game into overtime. The Rockets scored the first six points of the bonus period thanks to three- point plays from Howard and Lin. Aldridge and Nicolas Batum, though, hit back- to-back treys and Matthews knocked down two free throws to give the Blazers their first lead since late in the first half. The teams traded blows until Lin blew by his defender and got a layup to fall for a 118-116 lead with 53 seconds left. Lillard, however, used a three-point play on the ensuing trip to put Portland in front. Garcia and Howard split from the stripe before Lillard made the go-ahead free throws. "That was a tremendous game. Obviously when we fouled Dwight he missed some of the free throws, that was a turning point," said Blazers coach Terry Stotts. "They came out and scored the first six in OT, but we responded. We had to win one here, we did it, but were not satisfied. Tonight is behind us, we have to keep going." Howard and Harden both finished with 27 points while Howard pulled down 15 rebounds. Chandler Parsons added 24 and Lin chipped in 14 off the bench. Jones registered a double-double with 12 points and 13 boards. Beverley injured his knee, but it wasnt as bad as originally diagnosed. Hes expected to play Wednesday night. "Woke up at home, tried to put some weight on it, felt good. Squatted and felt good, one-legged jump felt good," said Beverley. "I did this all at home. I just have an ability to heal quicker than others I guess." Game 3 will be Friday night in Portland.   t two series at Dodger
Posted by: zxlbxj1 - 12.11.2018, 08:16 - Forum: Idle Universe - No Replies

Having just snapped their longest losing streak in 20 years, the Boston Red Sox will try to make it two in a row Tuesday night when they resume their home-and-away series with the Atlanta Braves. Watch the game live on TSN2 and TSN GO at 7pm et/4pm pt. The teams will finish off a two-game set at Turner Field Tuesday night, then head to Fenway Park for two more on Wednesday and Thursday. Boston picked up a much-needed 8-6 victory on Monday to snap a 10-game slide, its longest since an 11-game skid from June 8-19, 1994. David Ortiz did most of the heavy lifting with a three-run homer that tied the game in the fifth inning, then a sacrifice fly in the seventh to put the Red Sox in front. Dustin Pedroia, who had been struggling along with Ortiz, also drove in a pair of runs and finished 1-for-3. "In 10 games prior to today, theres one RBI combined (from Pedroia and Ortiz)," said Red Sox manager John Farrell. "Today there is six between the two. I think the outcome is directly correlated to their performance. Thats not to put it all on them because we had a lot of good at-bats all the way up and down the lineup today. But them being in the middle of the lineup, their contributions are key for us." The Red Sox used seven different pitchers to get the job done as starter Clay Buchholz was pulled after only three innings as he allowed six runs and a staggering eight walks. Braves starter Ervin Santana went five innings and was also charged with six runs. "We know we still have the core of a winning team here and were going to win," Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington said before Mondays win. "But weve got to get there. Weve got to focus on today and just try to start playing a little bit better first." Atlanta has split its last six games overall and currently owns a two-game lead over Miami in the National League East. The Braves will send veteran Aaron Harang to the mound for Tuesdays game. Harang began the year with a 0.85 ERA through five starts, but he has gone 1-3 with a 6.11 ERA over his last five. He faced Milwaukee last week and gave up four earned runs on nine hits in 5 1/3 innings for a no-decision. It was only the second time in his last 10 starts that Harang gave up more than two earned runs. Boston will counter with ace Jon Lester, who has yielded three earned runs or fewer in eight of his 10 starts. Like Harang, Lester is coming off a subpar outing as he gave up a season-high seven runs over the first two innings against Toronto. "I dont think were excelling in any one area, but I do think we have players capable of excelling and some of that is going to happen naturally," said Cherington. "There are other things that maybe you can do at some point to try to make the whole thing a lot better. "What we believed this offseason, what we believed in Spring Training, in terms of potential of this team, the position were in with people in the clubhouse, the depth of the talent -- that hasnt changed. We just have to perform. We have to find ways to perform better, and thats going to come in a number of ways." Boston has won 15 of the last 20 meetings in the head-to-head series. Reds at Dodgers, 10pm et/7pm pt (TSN2) Zack Greinke will try to keep the mound presence going for the Los Angeles Dodgers when they resume a three-game series versus the Cincinnati Reds Tuesday from Chavez Ravine. Greinke has to follow two superb outings from teammates Josh Beckett and Hyun- Jin Ryu when he makes his 11th start of the season. Beckett started LAs current pitching trend with a no-hitter Sunday at Philadelphia and retired 23 straight at one point. It was Ryus turn in Mondays 4-3 win over the Reds and he followed suit by retiring the first 21 batters he faced until Todd Fraziers double in the eighth inning. Ryu came within six outs of a perfect game and finished with three runs allowed across 7 1/3 innings. The left-hander struck out seven and walked none, and also added an RBI and a run scored. Dodgers manager Don Mattingly believed Ryu running the bases wore him down. "That long inning hurt him," Mattingly said of Ryu. "It broke the momentum for him. At the end of the night, we got the win." Kenley Jansen threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief for his 15th save. Carl Crawfords two-run double highlighted a three-run seventh inning and he finished with two hits for the Dodgers, winners in three of four and eight of their last 13 games. The Dodgers will also host Pittsburgh and Chicago (White Sox) on this 10-game homestand. Greinke will try to pitch Los Angeles to its third straight win and he is 7-1 in 10 starts with a 2.01 earned run average. Greinke is coming off a no- decision in Thursdays 5-3 loss to the New York Mets and he was tagged for three runs -- one earned -- in five innings. Greinke snapped his streak of 21 straight starts allowing two runs or fewer. However, he has allowed two or fewer earned runs in a record 22 consecutive regular-season starts since July 30, 2013, going 14-2 with a 1.76 earned run average in that time. He surpassed Roger Clemens mark of 21 from 1990-91. The right-hander is 3-0 in four home outings and has a 4-1 record to go along with a 2.62 ERA in eight career starts against Cincinnati. Cincinnati opened a seven-game western swing with Mondays loss at Dodger Stadium and Frazier was able to spoil the show with his hit in the eighth. Reds ace Johnny Cueto was dealt the loss for surrendering four runs, one of which was earned, and four hits in 6 1/3 innings. Cueto was outdueled by Ryu and fell to 4-4 with his second straight loss after winning four straight decisions. After Frazier doubled to start Cincinnatis late rally, Ryan Ludwick singled and Chris Heisey followed with a sacrifice fly to put the visitors on the board. Brayan Pena then singled and Skip Schumaker walked one out later before Billy Hamilton stroked a two-run double. The Reds had two runners on base in the ninth, but Devin Mesoraco flied out to end the game. "Our silver lining was we rallied late," Reds manager Bryan Price said. "We have to hang tough. Weve played a lot of close games, but unfortunately weve come out on the short end." Cincinnati has lost three in a row since winning three of four games, and will send Alfredo Simon against Greinke Tuesday night. Simon is 6-2 with a 2.31 earned run average in nine starts and is 5-1 in the past six decisions. He won his second straight start in last Wednesdays 2-1 victory at Washington and delivered seven innings of one-run ball. Simon struck out six and walked one for the second straight start. He has 14 Ks over that span. The right-hander has been strong on the road this season, winning all five assignments, and will make his first career start against the Dodgers. He has allowed one run in 2 1/3 innings of relief (2 games). LA lost four of seven meetings with the Reds last season. Cincinnati has lost its last two series at Dodger Stadium. Darren Fells Jersey . Jamies number grades given are out of five, with five being the best mark. Tuukka Rask, Boston (4) - Outstanding in first period, gave Boston chance to settle in, big saves on Datsyuk and Tatar in second period to keep it close at 2-1. Robbed Abdelkader in OT, cant stress enough how poised he is in the net, makes it look easy, and rarely out of position. Jonas Gustavsson, Detroit (4) - Surprise start, responded well, especially not busy early but showed great poise, no chance on first goal as it was tipped in front. Not overly challenged but got better and more confident as the game went on, Big saves on Soderberg and Eriksson in OT, no chance on the game winner as it was deflected twice. Jonathan Quick, Los Angeles (4) - Locked in early on, with big saves on Burns and Pavelski, explosive saves on Marleau and Vlasic in the third to preserve the lead. He better managed his crease, not as erratic and out of control as we have seen last few games. Antti Niemi, San Jose (2) - Big saves onn King and Richards early in game, second goal was stoppable based on a tough angle shot that he is unable to corral, had rebound issues all night long that cost him, not as sharp as he has been in past games.dddddddddddd Semyon Varlamov, Colorado (4) - Putting a show on again, the only reason the Avs were in the game after the first period. His crease work is so fast and explosive, very tough to beat him low as well as in tight. Parise, Koivu, McCormick, Spurgeon, Brodziak, Granlund, Moulson (three times) and Pominville for starters had great chances, not much chance on both goals on a one-timer from slot and bad bounce off the back board. He is the only reason this series has been close. Darcy Kuemper, Minnesota (4) - Tough mentally to watch the goalie at the other end standing on his head and face all the shots. He was not busy whatsoever, the goal looked to hit his own man in front and go five-hole, but showed poise when needed to get the win and saved his best work for the last few minutes with big saves on Benoit and OReilly. Had a few puck handling issues that almost cost him, but kept it on the rails, solid again.
